“All of this must appear so much on the fly and we’re sorry about that,” Beatrice said. “But, be patient. It’s not unusual at this stage. Once all the parts are up and running everything will be tickety-boo.” She drew in a deep breath and let it out slowly. “Juarez knows the three of you?” she asked with a scrutinizing glance.
“More Janet and I than Edward,” Charlotte replied.
“Would he trust you?”
Charlotte stared at Janet. He saved our lives. Does that suffice?
“Yes, I believe he would,” Janet said.
Charlotte was relieved Janet spoke first. She picked up my vibe. “I agree.”
“Good then, that’s settled,” Beatrice replied.
“I don’t understand. What’s settled?” Janet said.
“What I think Beatrice means is that there is a good likelihood he will try to communicate with at least one of you,” Zoe said.
Julia eased forward on her chair. “How and when he’ll connect is anyone’s guess.”
Zoe turned to face Edward. “How would you feel about getting your old job back at KemKor? Of course, after that fiasco five years ago, it’s not called that now.”
“I’m aware of the name change,” Edward said flatly. “I’m also aware that the new owner and his wife were murdered two years ago.”
Charlotte cringed when she peered at Edward’s face. Too many memories, bad memories are wrapped up during his time there. That is not a good suggestion, Zoe. He and his wife drifted apart because of his caree...
