Elizabeth

The sound of the door creaking caused Elizabeth to wake. Soft light flooded her room. In the doorway she could make out a female figure and her heart dropped into her stomach.

“Wakey, wakey,” the woman said in a gravelly voice.

Elizabeth slowly sat up in her bed and curled her knees to her chest, refusing to look the woman in the eye.

“You know what I like about you, Elizabeth?”

"No," she said quietly and shook her head.
