Chapter 1

The dead of night. The heart of winter. That is what her soul felt like.

“This is rubbish.” I said slamming my laptop closed. “I can’t believe I ever thought I was any good!” I laid my forehead against the warm body of the computer and let out a dramatic sob.

“At writing?” Jeremy asked from the bedroom.

“Mhm,” I confirmed without moving a muscle.

I sat up as he walked out of the bedroom. He had a towel around his waist and beads of water still rolling down his bare chest. “You ARE good at writing. Have you forgotten that you won the Pacemaker award in college?”
