The next day was brimming with excitement. Up early for breakfast and coffee and then off to fair. "Are you guys excited?" Matt asked out of sarcasm as they sat at the table.
"Duh," Daisy said, taking a bite of her French toast. "I've not ever been to one. This will be great!"
"They started putting flyers out not too long ago," Grace said as she sat at the table. "I know now why you guys wanted to go. It does seem fun."
"Haven't you ever been to one?" Randy asked.
"No, not even as a young girl." Grace said shaking her head.
"Wow, well, I'll tell you," Katie began, "They are the most fun. They have rides, and carnies, and the most tasty, fattening food ever. But don't worry, those calories don't count. They are what I call fun calories."
She and Grace laughed at that.
"I'm sure your boys will love it." Buck said gesturing to Matt.
"Yeah, we are going to pick them up on the way there. I'm sure they've been driving their grandmother nuts this morning." he laughed.
The day was pleasant. The birds were singing, the sun was warm, and there was a nice breeze blowing through the air. They all agreed to meet at the fair. Grace let them borrow her car and she and Matt took the suv to pick up their boys on the way.
"It's easy to find. Just plug the address into the GPS. Drive until the map turns green." Matt said smiling.
Katie caught the joke but Daisy spoke up from the back and asked, "Isn't it drive until the map turns blue?"
"It generally is, but in this case, you're going to be making a right. If you make a left, then the map will turn blue and you're going in the wrong direction." he snickered.
"Oh, brother." Daisy laughed shaking her head.
"The last time I went to one of these, " Randy said, "I had this very large, yet very tasty King Coney hot dog. I get heartburn just thinking about that thing. But man, was it good."
"Yes, and I will warn you, Daisy. If you eat anything at all before you ride something, don't get on the graviton." Buck said as he smiled at Katie.
