School was long the next day for both Daisy and Billy. It almost seemed as if every word the teacher said was mumbled much like that of the teacher on Charlie Brown. They were both contemplating on what would happen if a meeting did happen with Tate. Billy more so than Daisy. Daisy has played and replayed every word she's been told about what happened with her mom. How scared her mom must've been and how alone she must've felt in all of that. She doesn't know if she would be able to handle something like that, especially being in his house where horrible things could've happened to Tate as a kid.
"I think I'm going to do it." Billy finally said as he pushed food around in his tray at lunch.
Daisy was proud of him.
"I'm glad you're taking that step, Billy." Daisy said smiling as she took a bite of her chicken sandwich. "It''ll be good for you and I think you will find, that it gives you some sort of closure to this whole thing. I mean, learning what we have, then to find out it was your dad, hasn't been easy. So getting this done and over will be good."
"I have to be honest though, Daisy, I am really nervous."
She reached across the table and grabbed his hand. "It'll be fine, I promise. You're going to be safe there and then you'll be able to leave, no strings attached. It will be all around better for not only you, but your mom as well."
